- Morphology Body length: 42 cm. It has long bill and legs. In flight, its bold black and white wingbar and white rump can be seen readily. Its white tail has a wide black bar in the end. Grey upperparts and white underparts, white eyebrow stripe, dark gray chin and ear coverts, and black legs.
- Ethology The feet are held out behind the tail, when flying.
