- Morphology Body length: 43 cm. It is medium sized and slightly larger than black-headed gull and has an all-white head and faint pinkish chest in summer. Its dark red bill is longer and more slender than black-headed gull’s bill. It has a white triangle-shaped rump, a grey plumage and a slightly sloped forehead.
- Ethology It holds its head and bill down in a special way. When resting, it puffs up its chest but when threatened, it holds its neck up.
