- Morphology Body length: 32 cm It is larger than red shank. Legs are long and green (sometimes greenish yellow). The black Bill is long and slightly upturned, it is brownish gray on top with black and white bared tail.
- Ethology The feet are held out behind the tail, when flying.It is almost seen running fast through shallow water, as it searches for or pursues prey (small fish).
