- Morphology The quills are long with alternating white and black bands. The length of the body is 70 to 90 cm. The quills are 18 to 35 cm.
- Ethology Contrary to popular belief, Indian crested porcupines cannot shoot their quills. When excited or scared, a porcupine stands its quills up to appear larger.
