- Morphology Body length:17 cm. It has a short tail, a distinct long crest, a relatively long bill, a uniformly brownish grey upperparts, napes and forehead have unclear marks and the chest has streaks. The Belly and tail are off-white, the legs are thin and yellowish grey.
- Ethology It has strong wingbeats and hovers with rapid wingbeats specially when breading.
