- Morphology Body length:55 cm. Larger and heavier than other Harriers and has broader wings, the femalelacks the white upper tail coverts ("rump"), the wings are somewhat round and the color of male is different from that of the other male harriers.
- Ethology During hunting, It searches the countryside, flying low, and generally holds its wings with a marked positive dihedral. With a sudden movement it dives into the reedbeds to catch the prey.
